R&B superstar Usher Raymond has recently spoken out against TV talent shows like American Idol despite recently appearing on the show himself as a guest. The talented R&B singer famous for his incredible stage performances, his delicious R&B songs and his cool R&B music videos says that he believes TV talent shows are killing the music industry and giving young aspiring singers a false perception of what it takes to become successful in one of the hardest most competitive industries in the world.
Usher says: "The true art form of music is being lost, because it seems so easy that everyone can do it, and that it can happen overnight. Television is a lie. It can't happen overnight. The artist who thinks that it can just comes and goes. The reason why great singers cannot exist in this time is maybe because they're not properly managed, and maybe they don't understand the full gamut of what being an entertainer is.
"We're dealing with an industry that is slowly but surely dying, every day. They are mass-producing these versions of these people; versions of this broken art. While it works, because it sells records, it damages the business.”
R&B superstar Usher is himself considered an industry veteran having been in the business for sixteen years since his self titled debut album “Usher” was released in August 30th 1994. And since then Usher has had almost unparalled success with hit album after hit album the latest being the phenomenal Raymond V. Raymond album released in 2010.
And throughout this time Usher has grown creatively and as an artist through his hard work and dedication and it is this natural grounding in the music industry that he believes is missing when artists find success the easy way on TV talent shows like American Idol today.
