Rap mogul Russell Simmons co-founder of the legendary rap music label Def Jam and brother of Rev Run from the MTV show "Runs House" recently shared his thoughtsabout some of the biggest Rap & Hip hop artists gracing the hip hop world today including rap superstars Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Drake, Gucci Mane and Diddy.
Russell Simmons insisted the key to these rap stars success over the years is their passion and love of music and their craft. Russell Simmons who through his record label Def Jam was responsible for the growth in Hip hop and Rap music in the early years and some of the greatest ever Rap music videos is currently one of the most respected men in Hip hop music and so when he talks you listen.
Russell Simmons said: "Jay-Z, he's very talented, he's a great artist and he's a good businessman and an inspiration to a lot of kids in Brooklyn and around the world. If you ain't drinking Ciroc, then you're drinking p**s. (Laughs) All right, that's Puff. Lil Wayne, yeah, I'd expect he'd make a lot of money, he’s does good work in his community and I'm not surprised by Drake or Gucci Mane either".
“Only focus on your craft, because everything else is a waste. If you can't focus on your craft and be happy, then, what are you doing it for?"
