R&B superstar Alicia Keys recently revealed that Hip hop music legend Jay Z had doubts about their classic single “Empire State Of Mind” fearing the song would not be global hit. The gorgeous R&B singer famous for her smooth R&B vocals; classic R&B songs and stunning R&B music videos said that Jay Z believed that because the song so strongly identified with New York that people in other parts of the world would never relate to it.
Alica Keys said: "I'll never forget Jay and I were finishing the song and he said, 'Do you think it's too New York?' and I said, 'Kind of, but what else is it going to be?'
"But it's not about New York it's about coming from nowhere and being successful. Anyone can relate to it. Just cross out 'New York' and put in the name of wherever you're from and it's relevant."
Alicia Keys added: "It surprised us all, how well it did."
Of course their classic duet “Empire State Of Mind” from Jay Z`s excellent The Blueprint 3 album became a worldwide smash and the rest as they say is history.
On the music front both Jay Z & Alicia Keys are reportedly back in the recording studio working on their next studio albums. Jay Z has reportedly already completed two songs while Alicia Keys is set to return to work after taking some time off after getting married to music producer Swizz Beatz and giving birth to their son Eygpt Daoud last year.
Look out for Jay Z`s collaboration album with Kanye West entitled “Watch The Throne” too which should be released in the next few weeks.
