Hip hop star Drake praised label boss Lil Wayne by calling him a genuine rap music icon in an interview with “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” on Power 106 last week. The New Orleans born rap star famous for his cool rhymes; delicious rap songs and stunning Lil Wayne music videos recently saw his latest album “Tha Carter IV” sell 963,000 copies in its first week of release and debut at number one on the Billboard Album charts after its release on August 29 2011.
Drake said: “I just knew he’s an icon. That’s iconic status because a lot of people would argue that it wasn’t as big as Carter III was. There was no ‘Lollipop,’ there was no ‘A Milli.’ Obviously Wayne kept their attention and kept that excitement going because it takes a lot to put that many people in the stores. That is serious. That’s like diamond in a year, if we’re talking back in the day.”
Lil Wayne`s incredible ninth studio album “Tha Carter IV” hit the stores on August 29 2011 and sold an incredible 963,000 copies in its first week of release confirming his status as the hottest rap star in the world.
