The 26-year-old singer claimed that mainstream radio has recently started to embrace R&B and hip-hop.

"The biggest genres of music in UK music will always be pop and rock," he told The Sun.

"We were given our own channels, BBC 1Xtra and MTV Base, as we weren't good enough for MTV or Radio 1.

"But now all of a sudden, you've got people like Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk who have incorporated some pop elements in and it's now leading the way. JLS are great boys too.

"I think I've figured out the formula. I'm still singing in a nice R&B melodic way, but I'm singing songs that people can sing. It's for the mainstream audience."
