Eminem is an American Hip hop artist who exploded onto the Hip hop scene in 1999 with his debut album “The Slim Shady LP” which spawned the classic Eminem songs and classic Eminem music videos for “My Name is” and “The Real Slim Shady”. Considered to be one of the few genuine global rap superstars Eminem songs and Eminem’s music videos continue to sell millions of copies today making him a truly global Hip hop icon with his latest CD “Recovery” selling over seven million copies worldwide. The video was shot in 2000 features cameos by Dr Dre, D12, Carson Daly, Pamela Anderson and Fred Durst and won Best Video Of The Year and Best Male Video at the MTV Video Awards 2000. After appearing in the Rap Olympics and finishing second Jimmy Lovine, CEO of Interscope Records requested a tape from the young Detroit rapper. Jimmy Lovine then played this tape to Dr. Dre and the two of them then began recording tracks for Eminem’s debut album. It was this debut album “The Slim Shady LP” that allowed Eminem to find his distinctive style which is still prevalent in his music today. The Real Slim Shady debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Album charts selling 283,000 copies in its first week of release. The Eminem music videos for his hugely infectious single “My Name is” became a huge hit on MTV and almost instantly a star was born. Directed by Philip Atwell and Dr Dre in 2000 this was another smash hit video on MTV giving Eminem another world wide hit. The next Eminem album to be released was “The Marshall Mathers LP” in March 2000. This classic Eminem album debuted at number one on the Billboard Album charts selling an incredible 1.76 million copies in its first week. The first single to be released was “The Real Slim Shady” which was quickly followed by “The Way I am” and the classic Eminem song“Stan” which all enjoyed massive success on the charts helping this album to sell more than 20 million copies worldwide. Again Eminem had delivered classic Eminem songs accompanied by classic Eminem music videos. In 2002 Eminem released the second single from his album entitled "Cleaning Out My Closet" and this video can be seen below . It was the second release from the "The Eminem Show" album and peaked at number 4 in the Billboard Top 100 charts. The video for "Cleaning Out My Closet" is more of a solemn affair with Eminem looking back retrospectively at his life and his relationship with his mother. More hit albums were to follow in the shape of “Encore” released in 2004 which spawned the hit singles “Just lose it” with a controversial Eminem music video which poked fun at Michael Jackson, MC Hammer and Madonna. Encore sold 700,000 copies in its first week and eventually went multi platinum selling over 15 million copies worldwide. The album “Relapse” followed produced by legendary Hip hop producer Dr. Dre. A single entitled “We made you” was released and an accompanying Eminem music video received a lot of airplay from MTV. “Relapse” has sold over 5 million copies to date worldwide. Eminem then released his seventh studio album Recovery on June 18 2010. This eagerly awaited disc includes collaborations with Hip hop superstar Lil Wayne, R&B star Rihanna and pop sensation Pink helping it to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 Album charts selling 741,000 copies in its first week of release giving Eminem another number one record. The first Eminem song to be release from this album was the hugely infectious Grammy Award winning single “Not Afraid” which featured a stunning Eminem music video. This excellent single released on April 29 2010 debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart selling 380,000 downloads in its first week. The stunning Eminem music video for this excellent single was directed by Rich Lee and shot on location in Newark, New Jersey and premiered on June 5th 2010 becoming a huge hit on MTV. Royce Da 5 ft 9 also makes a cameo in this video too. This incredible Eminem music video helped this excellent single “Not Afraid” win a Grammy Award at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The next single to be released from Eminem`s hugely successful Recovery album was the classic Eminem song “Love The Way You Lie” featuring R&B star Rihanna which featured an another incredible Eminem music video. The single which was released on June 10 2010 debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart selling 338,000 downloads in its first week of release. The very next week the single would climb to the number one position giving Eminem his second number one single from his hugely successful Recovery album. Other notable singles released from this album include the hugely infectious Lil Wayne collaboration “No Love” which features another sensational Eminem music video and his fourth official single release from this album “Space Bound” which hit the stores in summer 2011 and features another cool Eminem music video helping Eminem`s seventh studio album Recovery sell over six million copies worldwide.
